In mid-April, Assoc. Prof. Ing. Pavel Šimek, Ph.D. and Ing. Eva Kánská, Ph.D. from the Department of Information Technology, PEF ČZU participated in the international scientific conference CORDIALL (Convergence of Research in Digital Agriculture Leading Labs) in Montpellier, France. The event was organized by the INRAE research institute on the premises of Agropolis International as part of the activities of the European project CODECS, in which the department participates.

The conference connected leading European research initiatives focused on the digital transformation of agriculture – from specific agronomic practices at the farm level to broader strategic and legislative frameworks within Europe.

The main theme of the expert panels and the CODECS project section was the fact that digital technologies alone are not enough for successful transformation. Their real impact and contribution to sustainability fundamentally depends on how they are integrated into real agricultural systems, local conditions and the political environment.

The following key areas were discussed within the program:

· insights into digital ecosystems and innovations from so-called Living Labs across Europe,

· economic, environmental and social contexts (benefits and risks) of digitalization in practice,

· the role of public policies in supporting an inclusive and targeted digital transition.

The program also included a visit to the Le Mas Numérique demonstration farm at Domaine du Chapitre. Participants learned about the practical use of digital innovations, which included both advanced precision farming technologies and financially and technologically accessible solutions (so-called low-tech) for ordinary growers.

The conference was concluded with the general meeting of the CODECS project, where the further progress of the work and the preparation of the final conference of the project, which will take place on 15–16 September 2026 in Brussels, were discussed.
