On November 21, 2024, the second planned workshop was held at the ČZU in Prague with representatives of farmers - fruit growers, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information - ÚZEI, and others. During the workshop, the current state of digitalization in the fruit growing sector in the Czech Republic was discussed. Participants exchanged views on the biggest obstacles, threats and opportunities for supporting fruit production in the Czech Republic.

  • Following the first workshop in 2023, participants were presented with the results of findings from last year's questionnaires.
  • Following the workshop, a visit to the Bromil sro Svrkyně farm took place on the same day with a demonstration of the installed system for monitoring climatic conditions.
  • Following the discussions during the first workshop, drone photography was carried out in the orchard at the Bromil farm sro These images contributed to the assessment of the condition of the orchard and were also used to create a digital tour of the orchard including information for the wider public - one of the project outputs. This digital tour of the orchard was presented to the participants of the event and was very warmly received and widely discussed.
  • The workshop included a brainstorming session focused on shortening the supply chain and the social, economic and environmental costs and benefits of farm digitalization.

The results of the findings from the workshop participant questionnaires will be presented at a follow-up workshop in autumn 2025. Those interested in the issue of digitalization in fruit growing and in participating in future workshops can contact: kanska@pef.czu.cz.
