Series of lectures

Lectures from the Cycle of ICT practitioners have been organized by the Department of Information Technologies since 2016. Since then, more than 60 lectures have been held, enriching the standard teaching. The lectures introduced the students to specific practice processes as well as the latest trends in the given field, with the aim of making the transition to practice as easy as possible for graduates. Recordings of the vast majority of lectures can be found in the Lecture Archive, which is publicly available on the YouTube channel of the Department of Information Technologies PEF ČZU in Prague.

Most of the current design of Security Operations Centers (SOCs) provides services for monitoring and analyzing security events and alerts for its multiple clients, thus rendering them multi-tenanted. Modern SOCs have highly skilled security analysts, SIEM engineers, threat intelligence, security services advisers and sales teams. The future SOC is envisioned to shape the current cyber security trends, needs and ever-evolving technology. Changes to available data structure, security incident and event management tools and products, integration of Artificial Intelligence and automation, ubiquity of Internet of Things (IoT), evolution of cyber security threats etc. will likely determine the future of SOC design on an ongoing basis.

The lecture will focus on IQRF technologies, which is a wireless technology for data transmission in mesh networks with extremely low consumption and high reliability. The transmission is two-way and fast enough for both data collection and control of electronic devices. Network transmission is protected by security standards at several levels. Over the past two years, technology has seen another significant advance in device interoperability. Newly emerging devices that are certified for interoperability are automatically recognized in the network, and management takes place according to standardized commands defined in the IQRF Repository. GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) – the European Union regulation on the protection of personal data, which will apply uniformly throughout the EU from May 25, 2018. In the Czech Republic, it will replace the current personal data protection legislation in the form of Directive 95/46/EC and the related law No. 101/2000 Coll., on the protection of personal data. They concern companies, institutions and individuals that handle the personal data of Europeans (employees, customers, clients, suppliers) and operate on the European market.
