In the 2023/2024 school year, the Department of Information Technologies is once again organizing a separate cycle of professional lectures on current topics in the field of Information and Communication Technologies. The lectures offered will gradually be available from the recording during the academic year. Out of a total of five lectures offered, two are in English. The cycle of lectures takes place in LS (period March to April).
The main goal is to enrich and supplement the standard teaching, support the competitiveness of graduates on the labor market and further deepen the department's cooperation with practice.
In addition to the lecture's own thematic content, participating companies can also offer students cooperation in the form of professional internships, BP or DP topics, participation in projects, etc.
The chosen target group in LS are students of the field of Informatics in the 2nd year of bachelor's and 1st year of subsequent master's studies. The lectures concern the subjects Operating Systems and Computer Networks, IS Security and their equivalents in English.
Students are required to graduate at least one a professional lecture (or two, if specified in the subject) of your own choice from the given cycle (credit condition). Of course, a student can also register for more lectures. Registration takes place via the forms on the KIT website (see below). The cycle of lectures runs from March 20, 2024 as standard on Wednesdays from 15:45 in the TI classroom, on some dates at EII. The cycle runs until the end of April 2024.
Registration of students for lectures will be ongoing from February 29, 2024 through the department's website.
Attendance will be recorded at the lectures!
Read carefully the Information on the system of attendance at the Cycle of lectures by ICT experts
ATTENTION! The completed lecture can be counted as part of the credit within the compulsory bachelor's practice!

IT infrastructure includes network resources that enable the operation of all IT services. The security of operating these services has a very high priority. A firewall is one of the basic building blocks of ensuring this security.
In this lecture you will learn more about the development and types of firewall up to NextGen FW. Current trends and other security features and functions will be mentioned. All of this is supplemented by a view from practice - what challenges and problems are solved by the firewall admin in the company.

Most of the current design of Security Operations Centers (SOCs) provides services for monitoring and analyzing security events and alerts for its multiple clients, thus rendering them multi-tenanted. Modern SOCs have highly skilled security analysts, SIEM engineers, threat intelligence, security services advisers and sales teams.
The future SOC is envisioned to shape the current cyber security trends, needs and ever-evolving technology. Changes to available data structure, security incident and event management tools and products, integration of Artificial Intelligence and automation, ubiquity of Internet of Things (IoT), evolution of cyber security threats etc. will likely determine the future of SOC design on an ongoing basis.

thanks to its mesh topology, it is among the most reliable wireless networks ever. You will cover large areas of the order of many square kilometers, for example parking lots, industrial halls, hotels, streets, offices, etc. However, what more can Mesh networks provide to their users? You will learn that at the lecture.
