UX testing of the Citizen Portal

News

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, testing of the Citizen Portal for the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic took place in the HUBRU UX laboratory.

Based on cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, the Department of Information Technologies PEF carried out UX and usability testing of the new version of the Citizen Portal on Thursday, October 15, 2020. The testing took place in the HUBRU laboratory, which is a unique workplace at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the Czech University of Applied Sciences in Prague.

A total of 12 participants from among users took part in the testing. Representatives of the Ministry were also present in the observation part of the laboratory.

For the actual testing, users were divided into two groups. Half of the participants represented a target group that enters the Portal without a purpose. With them, the classic Think-aloud Protocols method was performed. The second group had specific tasks at their disposal. For testing, the method of Testing Scenarios (User Task Scenarios) and subsequent Retrospective Think-aloud Protocols was chosen.

At the end, a group discussion (Focus Group) was held with all participants using the online tool Google Meet, in which other representatives of the MVČR also participated. The test output will be delivered to the client together with the conclusions from the expert evaluation.

On the basis of the cooperation between the PEF Department of Information Technologies and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, two tests have already been carried out in the past. The results of the Life Events Guides (2019) testing are already included and at the address https://pruvodce.gov.cz are available to the general public. At the turn of the spring and summer of this year (2020), testing of the new version of the Public Administration Portal took place, which will be available at gov.cz.

Further involvement of the university and the department in solving eGovernment in the Czech Republic is expected in the future.

Note: Due to the current extraordinary measures in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, the participants took turns in the laboratory so that the maximum number of 6 people was always observed. Upon entering the room, hand disinfection was ensured and all participants wore masks.
