Ing. Vojtěch Novák, Ph.D., from KIT PEF ČZU in Prague contributed with his leadership to the successful completion of the 5th annual Hackathon of the Hradec Králové Region
On October 16, 2025 on Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Králové already carried out 5th year of the Hradec Králové Region Hackathon. The competition has traditionally focused on creating application designs over open data – this time from the Hradec Králové Region and the National Open Data Catalog.
Professional leadership and innovation support
He played a significant role in the organization and professional accompanying program. Ing. Vojtěch Novák, Ph.D. from Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Economics, CZU in Prague. With his experience in the field data analytics, application development and open data technologies contributed to setting up the professional part of the competition and provided consultations to the competition teams in the preparation of their projects.
Ing. Novák also worked as mentor and juror, helping the contestants develop ideas with a real impact on regional governance and improving the lives of residents. His approach combines practical knowledge and academic background was highly rated by the participants and significantly contributed to the overall quality of the projects presented.
Student creativity and projects with real benefits
They participated in the hackathon dozens of high school and university students from all over the Czech Republic, who created in a single day functional application designs using open data.
The winner was the team teddy bears that Secondary school and secondary school Dvur Kralove nad Labem with the application KompaZ – a guide in crisis situations. The team came in second place Educa-perhe from EDUCA Pardubice – Secondary vocational schools, sro., who presented the application proposal for simplifying housing selection. The third place went to the team Ivan Panuska that Secondary industrial schools of electrical engineering and higher vocational schools in Pardubice with the project Lifely.
Cooperation between the region and academia
The hackathon took place under the auspices of the Hradec Králové Region and the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Prague, which has long supported the development of open data and digital skills of students. The participation of Ing. Vojtěch Novák is evidenced by close cooperation between universities and regional institutions, which is key to the development of innovations and modern public administration solutions.
