What is a PhD?
Doctoral studies are the 3rd level of higher education. It is completed with a Ph.D. As a rule, it lasts 4 years, but it can be completed in a shorter period of time, or on the contrary, it can be extended by up to 2 years.
Studying is already less formalized. Focused not only on pedagogical activity, but mainly on the scientific one.

Why a doctorate and further work at the university?
It's an interesting job. You have the possibility of your own direction, flexibility.
After graduation, you can call yourself a doctor, or even a scientist. And you don't have to go to medicine.
