The traditional Graduate Seminar (this year already in its 19th year), organized by the Department of Information Technologies PEF ČZU in Prague, took place on March 2, 2017. The scientific seminar is attended every year by master's degree students who submit a diploma thesis in the current calendar year. Minister of Agriculture Marian Jurečka took over the patronage of the event. As in the previous two years, this year's event was held in the very attractive touristic environment of Všeradice Castle. Due to its vastness, the area provided fully equipped seminar rooms for meetings in six sections. An integral part of the Castle Yard is a restaurant with a brewery (Všerad beer), an exhibition of paintings and an exhibition of the museum of Magdalena Dobromila Rettigová, which was accessible not only to students of this successful event. This year, due to the high participation of students, the meeting took place unusually in five sections (the sixth section was Hackathon 2017 - see below), which were managed by expert committees consisting of 4 to 5 members of the department and external experts. Each committee selected and awarded the three best works based on the established evaluation rules. In addition to diplomas, the award-winning students also received valuable non-material prizes, with which the seminar was supported by Concur, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, the Department of Information Technologies, the Faculty of Operational Economics and other partners of the event. At the seminar, 98 graduates of the department presented and defended their work, Commission No. 1 was again designed in English, since the vast majority of students in this section presented their work results in English in accordance with their field of study. A total of 25 department members and practice representatives worked and evaluated the committees. As part of the seminar, as a separate professional section No. 6, the 2nd year of the application prototyping competition Hackathon 2017 was organized, in which 5 student teams participated. Detailed information is available in separate report to this event. The seminar ended with a ceremonial announcement of the three best works for each committee, the three best student projects within the Hackathon and a social gathering in the premises of the restaurant and brewery. The dean of PEF, representatives of the Concur company, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic and the chairmen of the commissions personally attended the announcement. The event has been evaluated very positively by students for a long time, especially for the possibility of "presentation and defense in the open" and the possibility to consult and discuss the solved issue directly with experts from the department, practice and colleagues from various fields of study. The department expects to organize the 20th anniversary year again in the premises of the Všeradice Castle Court on the same date.
