Farm Bromil Ltd. in Svrkyně became one of the demonstration sites of the European project CODECS (Maximizing the CO-benefits of agricultural Digitalisation through conducive digital ECoSystems). Staff from the Department of Information Technology at the PEF installed sensors and, thanks to a smart orchard management system, modern digital technologies are being tested here that can change the future of fruit growing in Europe. This project, funded by the Horizon Europe connects digitalization with sustainable agriculture and brings modern solutions directly into practice.

They will be installed on the farm sensors and climate stations, which will monitor soil and climate conditions in real time. Based on this data, a system will be created for smart orchard management, which will allow farmers to better plan irrigation, fertilization, and frost protection and optimize the care of individual parts of the orchard.

The Bromil demo farm is involved in the so-called Living Labu - Automation of Orchard Management, which brings together researchers, farmers and digitalisation experts. Thanks to this collaboration, solutions are being tested that can change the future of European fruit farming and serve as inspiration for other agricultural businesses.
