Members of KIT PEF ČZU participate in the RURBANIVE project: new online courses are available to the public

Members of the Department of Information Technology (KIT) of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture of the Czech University of Life Sciences are participating in the international Horizon Europe RURBANIVE project, which supports innovation and strengthening links between rural and urban areas. One of its practical outputs is new free online courses that combine food industry expertise with digital education.

The Czech part of the project focuses on shortening agri-food value chains, supporting local producers and connecting farmers with customers more effectively. Experts from PEF and FAPPZ ČZU are collaborating on the project implementation. KIT members are participating in activities connecting professional content with information technologies and online education.

Following the professional workshops in the Food Pavilion of ČZU, five online courses were created, which are now available on the ČZU KIT Moodle platform:

  • Bakery
  • Milk processing
  • Beer production
  • Meat processing
  • Product launch

The courses cover production technology, food safety, quality control, and marketing and online promotion. The educational platform also offers opportunities for interactive tests, digital badges, and other tools to support online learning.

The involvement of KIT members in the RURBANIVE project shows how information technologies can contribute to interdisciplinary cooperation and the transfer of professional knowledge into practice.

The courses are intended for students, ČZU employees, farmers, entrepreneurs and the general public and are available free of charge at: https://kitmood.cz/rurbanive/

The RURBANIVE project is being implemented in 2024–2027 under the Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement No. 101136597). It focuses on developing innovations supporting the connection of rural and urban areas in Europe.
