A weekend ideathon called 5Gthon will start in a week. Anyone who, alone or with their team, can come up with a smart solution for one of the given Smart Cities topics in one weekend can participate. The contestants will be tasked with inventing and working out in detail a proposal on how to improve life in Czech cities in several specific areas using new technologies using the 5G network. 5Gthon culminates on February 22 with the final conference, expert lectures and presentation of the competition proposals with the announcement of the winners. The event is organized by the Ministry of Regional Development together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of a joint 5G project for 5 cities, the full name of which is Support of 5G networks in the area of Smart Cities. Co-organizers are SIT Port, Hack Prague, CzechInvest, The event is also supported by various partners.

The competition (ideathon) is intended for innovative individuals who will create agile teams together that will look for interesting solutions to selected topics during the weekend ideathon (February 18-20). Both university students from various fields and startup enthusiasts will apply, as well as experienced teams from stable companies. There is no limit, the goal is clear – to find innovations that can improve our world and especially our country.

5Gthon is the final event of the project Support of 5G networks in the area of Smart Cities, as a timid pioneer in the development of smart applications and building digital infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The goal of the ideathon is to find smart solutions for the development and future of Czech cities using applications connected in the 5G network. And such solutions so that people can talk about their cities as Smart Cities.
