On 11th September 2020, CENDAI team members and student researchers presented at the Left of Boom VI, the Sixth Annual Conference on Proactive Threat Mitigation, organized and hosted by the Intelligence Research Institute (IRI).
This time the conference took place online via the Zoom application. A total of 40 speakers spoke during the three-day program, including keynote speakers John Brown (Executive Assistant Director, National Security Branch, FBI), Soraya Correa (Chief Procurement Officer, US Department of Homeland Security) and Cristiano Amon (President, Qualcomm Incorporated).
In his presentation, Miloš Ulman presented the activities of CENDAI (Center for Data Analytics and Intelligence), a platform for international cooperation founded at the Department of Information Technologies, FEM CZU Prague. Two presentations of student research followed. Ms. Tuhina Srivastava, a recent graduate of the Master of Business Administration program, introduced the SNES (Sentiment Evaluation Neural System), a demo application that uses AI to recognize emotions and micro facial expressions in real time. Ms. Margarita Gicheva, a student of the master's study program Informatics, presented research from her diploma thesis on the topic of Application of AI in Crisis Management under the guidance of Dr. Ulman and with consulting provided by Dr. Akshay Pottathil. The presentations attracted great interest from the conference participants and both young researchers answered questions from the audience.
The research presented by the CENDAI researchers was supported by a grant from the Department of Information Technologies and funding from the International Relations Office FEM CZU Prague.
