On November 21, 2024, the second planned workshop was held on the premises of the ČZU in Prague with representatives of farmers - fruit growers, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information - ÚZEI, and others. During the workshop, the current state of digitization in the field of fruit growing in the Czech Republic was discussed. The participants exchanged opinions on the biggest obstacles, threats and opportunities for supporting fruit production in the Czech Republic.
- Following the first workshop in 2023, the participants were presented with the findings from last year's questionnaires.
- Following the workshop, a visit to the farm Bromil s.r.o. Svrkyně with a demonstration of the installed system for monitoring climatic conditions took place on the same day.
- Following the discussion during the first workshop, drone photography took place in the fruit orchard on the Bromil s.r.o. farm. These images contributed to the assessment of the state of the orchard and were also used to create a digital tour of the orchard including information for the wider public - one of the outputs of the project. This digital tour of the set was presented to the event attendees and was very warmly received and much discussed.
- Part of the workshop was a brainstorming thematically focused on shortening the supply chain and the social, economic and environmental costs and benefits of digitalization of farms.
The results of the workshop participant questionnaires will be presented at a follow-up workshop in autumn 2025. Those interested in the issue of digitization in fruit growing and participation in future workshops can contact kanska@pef.czu.cz.
