At this year's 34th edition of the Agrarian Perspectives international scientific conference, held on 10-11

The European research project CODECS (maximising the CO-benefits of agricultural Digitalisation through conducive digital ECoSystems) was presented at this year's 34th international scientific conference Agrarian Perspectives, organized on September 10-11, 2025 by the Faculty of Operational Economics of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. This four-year project, funded by Horizon Europe, explores how digital technologies can contribute to the sustainable development of European agriculture and how enabling digital ecosystems can be created to accelerate their adoption in practice.

As part of the Digitalization and Precision Agriculture section, the participants were introduced to the results of the project so far. The PEF CZU research team presented:

  • first analyzes of digital ecosystems and their impact on agricultural enterprises,
  • a framework for evaluating the costs and benefits of digitization in different types of agriculture,
  • examples of demonstration activities that test the use of digital tools in practice and examine their impact on sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness.

These results contribute to a better understanding of how digitization affects the agricultural sector, while providing evidence-based policy making.

Shared synergies with other projects

The conference created space for the mutual connection of projects focused on digitization and innovation in agriculture. In addition to CODECS, projects such as GRANULAR, RURBANIVE, BrightSpace, AGRITECH EU and SmartSkills were presented.

It was this confrontation and joint discussion that showed the importance of synergies between projects:

  • Methodological synergy – sharing procedures for analyzing and evaluating the impact of digital technologies in different regions,
  • Participatory approaches – inspiration between projects involving farmers, advisors, researchers and public administration in the joint evaluation of digital solutions,
  • Policy implications – linking project results into practical recommendations for European and national policies in the field of digitization and sustainable agriculture.

Thanks to these synergies, an environment is created where the results of individual projects strengthen their impact and offer a comprehensive view of the future of digital agriculture in Europe.

The presentation of the CODECS project at the Agrarian Perspectives conference confirmed the role of CZU as an important partner in the field of digitization and innovation in agriculture. Thanks to its involvement in this and other international projects, the faculty actively participates in the creation of knowledge that supports sustainable development and increases the competitiveness of European agriculture.
