This year, the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague made a significant entry to the prestigious International Conference on Data Processing and Networking (ICDPN). doc. Ing. Pavel Šimek, Ph.D.

This year, the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague made a significant entry to the prestigious International Conference on Data Processing and Networking (ICDPN). doc. Ing. Pavel Šimek, Ph.D. from the KIT PEF ČZU appeared not only as a keynote speaker, but also gave a professional lecture focused on the use of modern sensor technologies in scientific work and higher education. The presentation also included the presentation of the European project Agritech EU, which focuses on the digital transformation of agriculture and food industry.

The ICDPN conference annually brings together experts from the fields of data engineering, networks, sensor technologies, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. Keynote contribution by doc. Šimka from KIT PEF ČZU focused on the topic:

“The Use of IoT Sensors in Science and Higher Education Programs”

In his lecture, he presented how sensors, IoT technologies and data systems can be used:

  • in applied agricultural research,
  • during environmental monitoring,
  • in food production,
  • even in the innovation of study programs that respond to the demand for digital skills.

He emphasized that sensor systems and smart devices today represent an integral part of modern "smart farming" strategies and are the key to sustainable and precise production methods.

Presentation of the Agritech EU project

The performance also included a detailed introduction to the audience of the European Agritech EU project, which involves 7 universities, 5 technology companies and 1 center of excellence with the aim of developing digital competence, innovation and technological skills in the field of smart and sustainable agriculture and universities.

The main objectives of the project include:

  • Integration of IoT technologies, sensor networks, cloud services and data analytics into teaching.
  • Creation of international courses and modules for students and professionals.
  • Supporting collaboration between research, universities and industry.
  • Emphasis on sustainability, efficiency and social and environmental responsibility.

The project represents a unique European framework that helps prepare graduates for rapidly changing conditions in the agrarian sector.
