KIT PEF ČZU participated in the Hackathon of the Hradec Králové region

On 16. October 2025 at the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Hradec Králové already took place on 5. year of the Hradec Králové Region Hackathon. The competition was traditionally focused on creating application proposals based on open data - this time from the Hradec Králové Region and the National Catalog of Open Data.
Professional guidance and innovation support
An important role in the organization and the professional accompanying program was played byIng. Vojtěch Novák, Ph.D. from the Department of Information Technologies PEF ČZU in Prague. With his experience in the field of data analytics, application development and open data technologies, he contributed to setting up the professional part of the competition and provided consultation to the competition teams in the development of their projects.
Ing. Novák also acted as a mentor and judge, helping the contestants develop ideas with a real impact on regional governance and improving the lives of residents. His approach combining practical knowledge and academic background was highly appreciated by the participants and greatly contributed to the overall quality of the presented projects.
Student creativity and projects with real benefit
Dozens of high school and university students from all over the Czech Republic participated in the hackathon, who created functional application designs using open data in a single day.
The winner was the team mackokladi from SPŠ and SOŠ Dvur Králové nad Labem with the application KompaZ - a guide in crisis situations. The second place was taken by the Educa-perhe team from EDUCA Pardubice - Střední oděné školy, s.r.o., which presented an application proposal for simplifying the choice of housing. Third place went to the team Ivan Panuška from the Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering and Higher Vocational School Pardubice with the Lifely project.
Cooperation between the region and academia
The hackathon took place under the auspices of the Hradec Králové Region and the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Prague, which has long supported the development of open data and digital skills of students. The participation of Ing. Vojtěch Novák demonstrates close cooperation between universities and regional institutions, which is key to the development of innovations and modern public administration solutions.
