Demo farm Bromil - smart kits within the CODECS project
Farma Bromil s.r.o. in Svrkyn became one of the demonstration workplaces of the European CODECS project (Maximising the CO-benefits of agricultural Digitalisation through conducive digital ECoSystems).
The Bromil s.r.o. farm in Svrkyn has become one of the demonstration workplaces of the European project CODECS (Maximising the CO-benefits of agricultural Digitalisation through conducive digital ECoSystems). Workers from the PEF Department of Information Technology have installed the sensors and, thanks to a smart orchard management system, modern digital technologies that can change the future of fruit growing in Europe are being tested here. Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, this project connects digitization with sustainable agriculture and brings modern solutions directly into practice.
Sensors and climate stations will be installed on the farm to monitor soil and climate conditions in real time. Based on this data, a system for smart management of orchards (orchard management) will be created, which will allow farmers to better plan irrigation, fertilization or protection against frost and optimize the care of individual parts of the orchard.
The Bromil demo farm is involved in the so-called Living Lab - Automation of Orchard Management, which brings together researchers, farmers and digitization experts. Thanks to this collaboration, solutions are being tested here that can change the future of European fruit growing and serve as inspiration for other agricultural businesses.
