Representatives doc. Ing. Pavel Šimek, Ph.D., Ing. Eva Kánská, Ph.D. and Ing. Miroslav Brabec from the PEF Department of Information Technologies of the Faculty of Business Economics of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (PEF ČZU) participated in the third project meeting at the Horizont Evropa project Maximising the CO-benefits of agricultural Digitalization through conducive digital ECoSystems (CODECS), which was held online on December 12-13 2024.
CODECS was launched on October 1, 2022, and the main objective of this meeting, more than a year after its launch, was to provide an overview of its progress and analyze the next steps. The event also contributed to strengthening cooperation between consortium partners and establishing contacts.
CODECS project partners gathered at the General Assembly to reflect on the progress made and outline the direction for the future of sustainable digitization in agriculture.
First of all, the meeting featured inspiring presentations by Gianluca Brunori, CODECS project coordinator, and Angela Guarino, REA representative, who outlined the mission and achievements of the CODECS project.
Furthermore, possible opportunities for synergies between CODECS and QuantiFarm were analyzed and the partners shared key insights on Socio-Ecological Systems (SES), Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) and Process Modelling, delving into how these frameworks shape the digitization of agriculture.
Partnership discussions focused on:
- costs and benefits of farm digitization as well as strategies to enhance knowledge exchange through virtual visits between laboratories.
- policy environment and their essential role in supporting digital innovation in agriculture.
- An analysis of the current status of the project, the next steps to be taken and the needs of our Living Labs.
- Exploration of the CODECS digital platform, demonstration of its integrated components and new functions.
Finally, the organizers have announced the date of the upcoming Knowledge Accelerator webinar, which will be held on February 6, 2025.
The team of researchers from KIT PEF is responsible for the work related to the development of a set of tools for impact assessment – a multi-criteria assessment tool. He also participates in the collection and processing of data to evaluate the economic benefits of digitization and mapping digitization processes on model farms.
