KIT participated in the 6th annual workshop Study for Practice – Practice for Study

The 6th annual traditional workshop Study for Practice – Practice for Study took place at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Czech University of Life Sciences on September 24, 2026. The aim of this meeting of faculty management, department representatives, and representatives of major companies was to strengthen the connection between the academic environment and the real needs of the labor market.

On behalf of the Department of Information Technology, the event was actively attended by Assoc. Ing. Jan Jarolímek, Ph.D., who presented the profile of KIT graduates, the research focus of the department, and the possibilities of mutual cooperation in the areas of IT and digitalization.

Emphasis on connecting teaching with IT practice

The official part of the workshop was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ing. Lukáš Čechura, Ph.D., followed by the Vice-Dean for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Assoc. Ing. Jiří Vaněk, Ph.D., with an introduction to the Faculty and its vision for development. The Head of the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT), Assoc. Ing. Pavel Šimek, Ph.D., presented examples of successful project transfer into practice and invited companies to the upcoming Job Fair. The importance of the event for the entire university was also confirmed by the visit and short speech of the Rector of ČZU, Prof. PhDr. Michal Lošťák, Ph.D.

In the following blocks, individual departments and corporate partners presented their ideas for future cooperation. The discussion confirmed that the demand for qualified IT professionals is constantly growing.

The main agreed forms of cooperation between KIT and partner companies include:

  • Professional internships and internships for IT students,
  • Bachelor's and master's thesis topics based directly on real company assignments,
  • Involving experts from practice in teaching (invited lectures, workshops),
  • Joint research and development projects,
  • Development of accredited courses and microcertificates for IT specialization.

The closing remarks were made by Assoc. Prof. Martin Pelikán, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Educational Activities.
