Department of Information Technologies organizes the 3rd year of Hackaton application prototyping competition as part of the 2017 Všeradice diploma thesis seminar. It is not necessary to know how to code, only things necessary are just a little creativity and interest in applications of any kind.
What are the competition details?
Your task is to create an application prototype within a given topic. It is not necessary to code anything, the concept is the main focus. You may use any prototyping tools as well as the development environment itself.
The topic for the competition will be revealed at the start at 9am. Teams will have time until 5pm to create their prototype. They will present their concept to the other teams. The participants themselves will choose a winner by voting.
Who is the competition for?
Competition is open to all FEM students (excluding graduate students participating in the diploma thesis seminar, their application is possible only after agreement with the organizers). Contestants join the competition by filling the form on this site, each individually. Teams have a maximum of 2 members.
When and where?
The event will take place at the seminar for graduate students of the Department of Information Technology on 1. 3. 2018. The venue is the Castle courtyard Všeradice. This is a recently renovated resort with its own brewery. So after the contest so you can try the unique beer Všerad.
Participants can use a bus specially ordered for the occasion that departs from school and returns to Prague later that day. Both lunch and dinner will be secured for. All for free.
What will be provided?
You only have to bring your own computer. There will be an Internet connection. Furthermore, there will projector for the final presentation of your ideas, Android tablets (Samsung and Asus), smartphones (Windows Phone and Android) and iPad mini. But you can bring any of your own equipment as well.

Prototyping is a technique that is used in software development. It is the design of the application, its functions, structure and interactions with the user. It is used before commencing programming for clarification of goals, but often also used for inventing and defining features. It helps when communicating with customers and usually it is also part of the contract.
Wireframes are very similar to prototypes in general terms, but unlike the prototypes they are not interactive and focus more on the distribution of elements and appearance. Within the competition it is of course possible to create wireframes. What is important is the overall concept.

Instructions for Hackathon participants
The meeting starts at Chateau Vseradice at 9:00 on March 2nd, 2017.
The venue will become accessible from 8:00.
The contest starts at 9:15.
Information for students who have reserved their seat in the bus departing from Suchdol: The bus will depart at 7:00 from the menza (dining hall) at CULS campus.
