In 2020, the PEF Information Technology Department received a donation from Škoda Auto, as for the solution to the project Use of machine learning methods for automatic classification of user activities during usability testing. This year (May 25, 2021), Ing. Jan Masner, Ph.D. the results of this project at the FI IT Marketing Škoda Auto, as online meeting, where his presentation received a well-deserved response.
The essence of the project Use of machine learning methods for automatic classification of user activities during usability testing is the design and verification of machine learning methods during laboratory usability/UX testing. The key here is the use of the advanced background of the PEF ČZU HUBRU laboratory (Human Behavior Research Unit / Laboratory for the study of human behavior) and modern technologies providing a sufficient amount of high-quality data - eye tracking, tools for monitoring work with a mouse, keyboard and tools for monitoring biometric data.
The project will facilitate and speed up the time-consuming analysis of data from laboratory tests. The output is, for example, an automatic determination that the user fills in a text field at a certain moment, reads a label, chooses from options, etc. The result is an automatic prediction of UX and usability problems based on the detected data.
The Department of Information Technology PEF thus builds on the previous cooperation and anticipates long-term cooperation with ŠKODA AUTO, as on other interesting projects that are currently being prepared.
