News

John Sabou, MSc. and Ing. Miloš Ulman, Ph.D. accepted an invitation and presented a paper at the Broadcasting Council meeting on 25 June 2019.

John Sabou gave a talk on "Fake News Trends", in which he informed the audience about current developments in the field of detection, evaluation and dissemination of fake news on social media. Ing. Ulman then briefly presented the IGA project "Modelling user behavior and the spread of misinformation on the Twitter network in the Czech Republic" which was solved at the Department of Information Technologies PEF ČZU in Prague. The goal of the project is to propose an approach to modeling the development of discourse in the Czech language on the Twitter network over a longer period of time, which will allow understanding and easier detection of unique characteristics and signs of the development of potentially dangerous content in the Czech language.

In the following live discussion with RRTV members and employees of the RRTV Office, it was mentioned, among other things, that assessing the dangerousness of disseminated content runs into the right to freedom of expression and the problem of who and how would determine the degree of dangerousness of the content. The researchers of the project emphasized the focus of the research on the emotional potential of the content of the shared post on social media. In conclusion, Ing. Ulman appreciated the Council's willingness to communicate with the academic environment and offered future cooperation.
