BASIC INFORMATIONS

Our focus

The Department of Information Technologies (KIT) has a long-term profile in the field of pedagogy and scientific research, it cooperates with the business sector, state administration and domestic and foreign universities. He participates in solving a number of domestic and international projects and creating international teams in solving applied research questions. With its focus, KIT ranks among important profiling departments Operational economics faculty CZU in Prague. The activity of the department is ensured by 21 pedagogues, 6 technicians and an average of 9 doctoral students.

Educational activity

The department guarantees the teaching of subjects from the environment of information and communication technologies at PEF and other faculties of the university at bachelor's, subsequent master's and doctoral degrees. The department's subjects are focused on a number of areas of ICT use, especially in business practice (algorithmization and programming in a selected environment, mobile application programming, operating systems, computer networks, web design, internet applications, information systems in business practice and the state sphere, their security, computer graphics , e-learning, social networks, etc.). Pedagogical staff pass on the knowledge and experience gained during their scientific-research activity and cooperation with practice to students directly in class. A number of external experts from practice also participate in the teaching of the department.

The department conducts bachelor and diploma theses. Own topics are listed, but students can also come up with other suggestions. Cooperation with companies that offer topics related to, for example, internships is also a matter of course. They are available for those interested in processing theses at KIT detailed instructions.

Scientific-research activity

Educators, technicians and doctoral students specialize in scientific research in particular in applied research, which, in accordance with the focus of the university and faculty, is often oriented towards agricultural, forestry and regional environments. Employees and doctoral students present research results at a number of domestic and foreign scientific conferences and are members of domestic and international scientific organizations and societies. The results of the VVČ are published in prestigious publication titles and are used for obtaining financial resources from grant funds.

History

The Department of Information Technologies is one of the founding departments of the faculty. The term "information" appears in its name as early as the 1970s, when it was called the Department of Information Systems and Computer Use. She specialized in programming, IS design, data processing and accounting. In the early 1990s, the Department of Business and Finance separated from the department, and the department began to use the name Department of Informatics. Due to the development of the field of ICT, in the second half of the 1990s the department was divided into two - the Department of Information Technologies and the Department of Information Engineering.
